RESEARCH

Organisms need a precise neuronal representation of their surroundings in their brain to properly respond to stimuli and challenges from the environment. These representations of the external world are organized into sensory maps which are systems of synaptic connections in which the positional coordinates of a set of input neurons are maintained in their wiring to synaptic targets.

In the lab, we focus on vision and study how this complex organization is set up within the visual system. We seek to identify the basic principles and molecular mechanisms of the organization of visual connectivity, how to protect it from disease and what can we do to limit the detrimental effect of vision loss.
